MET POLICE PROJECT
Whilst at university I along with a few others was asked and commisioned to make some prostheticlimbs that could be used by the body recoverment department during training. Due to the nature of the project the limbs had to be durable, weather proof and extremely realistic.

Sculpting on top of a plaster cast to create the final piece to cast again in silicon. |
 |
The finished sculpt got embedded in a clay bed complete with wax keys ready for the mould to be made |
 |
Part one of the 2 part mould using silicon.
The clay wall is placed around the
edge so as to contain the plaster
for the plaster jacket. |
 |
By adding pigment, thread and flock into the rubber when it was being moulded I was able to get a nearly perfect colouring on the foot straight out of the mould, this limited what was needed in the next stage. |
|
After final colouring, hair punching (if necessary) and fine detail such as bruising and toenails etc. the limbs were ready to be given to the MET Police. |
